Problems

Through my experience using the ATM I was able to identify a few problems:

  • There is no place to put down any items I was carrying in my hand, or to place my bag to take out my wallet. Instead I had to resort to using the floor to put down my food.
  • The pin pad is not adequately covered. Someone standing nearby can see the numbers I input into the pin pad.
  • The first screen after inserting the card is confusing. Later I realized that written on the top was "Enter pin and then select an option.", but this was masked by all the other distracting buttons on the screen.
  • All withdrawals from the ATM are given only in $20 bills. This means I can only withdraw multiples of 20 from the ATM, and if I want the cash to be in smaller or larger bills I need to go inside the bank and exchange it.
  • Solutions

  • Pull out table - Include a pull out table to be able to set things down.
  • Pinpad Covering - Add a covering around the pin pad to conceal the entry from other people.
  • Separate Pin Screen - Make the step of inserting the pin number as its own screen without any other options. This way after inserting their bank card users will be prompted to insert their pin number first, and after selecting enter they would be taken to a second screen
  • Smaller bills - Have the ability to choose the bills that you would like to withdraw.
